Stan's songs are known for their power and insight into the human condition. And although he is known by many for his works inspired by the Canadian Maritimes, his songs also encompassed other forms including country, blues, jazz, and rock, supported by an almost operatic sensibility and power. Even writer Rick Salutin has referred to as "mini operas". 1
